Those pesky enemy factions. You chase them off the streets, but they just pop up again – in the labyrinthine subways beneath the city. The MMO cover-shooting sensation’s first paid expansion, Underground, is stuffed with value. Happy Black Friday to us.
If the special horrors of Dark Zone PvP no longer have you jumping (jacks) for joy, the new solo or four-player PvE co-op Operations are a welcome change. Underground’s less of a new area, more a new mode entirely. Each “dungeon” is randomly generated, making the 15 to 20-minute loot runs hugely varied and replayable.
Directives pile on even more options. They’re mission modifiers that introduce extra challenge (no mini-map, or health draining as you play) for better rewards. You can even combine them to ramp up the difficulty and the quality of your drops.
Ranking up in the new Underground system unlocks Directives, Operation types and Vanity Items. Once you’ve donned a fancy hat, try new Incursion Dragon’s Nest, where basically everything’s on fire thanks to the Cleaners. Grab three friends and enjoy a particularly creative bit where the floor is quite literally lava.
Four exclusive gear sets, new weapons and shared social space The Terminal too? Bargain – and we didn’t even have to trample anyone.
